HP+ Option—Allows a maximum injection velocity of
78.7 in/sec (2000 mm/sec) with 8.0 msec response
from 10 to 90%, and a braking response time of 5 msec.,
with maximum injection pressures up to 47,210 psi
(3320 kg/cm2) at these speeds
HP Option—Allows an injection velocity of 800 mm/sec
in .01 seconds and braking from 800 mm/sec to 0 in .005
Press á—Compression/oscillating system, available from
both the fixed and moving platens, that actuates compression
pins in the mold during the hold stage
The Injection Unit
The SGM’s injection unit is designed for ultra-high speed, unattended operation with unequaled precision and control.
The SGM-S hydraulic system combines dual, fast response servo valves with highly sophisticated measuring and feedback devices. Injection speed, hold pressure and screw back pressure are controlled by the first servo valve for faster response for injection control. Programmable V/P switchover enhances precision filling of the cavity. The second servo valve controls screw speed RPM. Feedback from the tach-generator accurately controls screw speed for optimum plasticizing and shot size control.
SGM-S performance results for shot weight accuracy and repeatability yield a typical deviation-to-mean ratio of less than 0.02%.
Additional functions, such as anti-flash and sink mark prevention control, are available as options.
The SGM-H, a cost-effective alternative for most applications, features specially designed proportional valve hydraulics with semi-closed loop control that provide excellent response, linearity and repeatability.
Both models are equipped with a large capacity, bladder-type accumulator that:
Provides more stable pressure control
Eliminates the need for a special nitrogen tank
Reduces variation due to ambient temperature changes
The oil and nitrogen pressure sensor circuit ensures consistent pressure control and smooth transition. PID control of oil temperature delivers uniform response for accurate, repeatable profiling.
The SGM’s field proven, double-toggle clamp design delivers reliable, high-speed operation year-in, year-out. Rigidity and durability of the clamp unit are ensured through the use of finite element analysis methods.
Faster and smoother clamp operation on the SGM is due to the self-optimizing opening speed profile, an Auto Deceleration program and a shockless cushion in the clamp cylinder. The result is fast and smooth mold opening and closing with reduced levels of vibration for cycle times that improve your productivity.
For precision clamp positioning, clamp and ejector operation are monitored by precise optical encoders—resulting in maximum mold protection and consistent molding cycles.
Less maintenance, less oil or grease use and fewer disposal problems are due to the SGM’s graphite-impregnated bushings that significantly reduce lubrication requirements.
The N-VII Control
|N-VII control with full-color LCD screen. Injection Analysis screen displays results of changes in process parameters. Ten different parameters can be chosen in combinations of four at a time.
Ease of use is another important feature of the SGM. The N-VII full-color control is field-proven for building operator confidence with it's straightforward screen designs, selectable auto-programming of initial molding conditions and QC/SPC capabilities.
Standard features include quality monitoring of 10 parameters plus multi-function production control. Real-time charts and graphs demonstrate the precision profiling and closed loop control capabilities of the SGM-S.
Other ease-of-use features of the N-VII control include:
Large 10.4 in., full-color, TFT liquid crystal display with
high intensity graphics
Instant access to commonly used screens
Internal memory storage of 40 setups (plus 20 setups
per optional memory card)
Overall Screen that clearly displays all the main settings

can be set and changed without switching to other screens.
