Six Axis Robots for Injection Molding
Specialty Robots

  • Design and engineering expertise for application specific robots - high speed side entry robots for IML/Packaging.
  • Transverse and “T” style robots provide alternate part placement positions and increase workcell flexibility.
  • 6-Axis articulated arm robots for extended range of motion and multiple operations – Staubli Robotics Integrator (link).
  • Custom designed servo robots and commercially available scara robots increase the capabilities of the workcell solution.

Side Entry Injection Molding Robots

IN MOLD LABELING
THIN WALL PACKAGING AUTOMATION
MADE IN THE USA

North American injection molding molders can depend on Automated Assemblies Corporation's proven, reliable, and robust IML Workcells. Built and designed in the US to address the unique needs and requirements of North American processors, you'll benefit from Automated's US based operation--instead of a European supplier-- by

  • Avoiding currency fluctuations (which can drive up costs as much as 20%),
  • Sidestep massive international shipping costs and delays,
  • No language barrier, no time zone changes,

Automated's IML Workcells are equipped with Raptor Side Entry Robots and Proprietary Controllers.

LABEL FEEDING
  • Labels for multiple cavity molds are presented on a precision turntable in high capacity magazines.
  • Single label separation provided with servo tooling designed to increase productivity and yields.
  • Label changeover completed within a single cycle of the molding machine.

LABEL HAND-OFF
  • Single label per cavity is pre-positioned and presented to high speed Raptor robot.
  • Label WIP with system is just one set for slat applications.
  • Large, small and contoured labels all presented in the same manner.

RAPTOR SIDE ENTRY ROBOT WITH DUAL FUNCTION EOAT
  • Raptor Side Entry Robot with Intellimotion(TM) dynamic motion control positions the EOAT for quick and precise label acquisition.
  • Placement and parts retrieval processes take place.
  • Dual arm configuration with independent servo arm control accesses labels and parts in the high cavitation stack molds.
  • Dual function EOAT presents labels to the electrostatic discharge unit prior to placement in the mold.
  • Part removal occurs concurrently, saving time in each molding cycle.

MOLDED PART HANDLING
  • Post-molding manipulation specific to each part type.
  • Hinged lids, covers, and caps are flexed and closed by dedicated tooling and fixtures, done within molding machine cycle time.
  • Re-positioning and orienting of parts done for the vision inspection and packaging of the parts in the system.
  • Closed loop process verification and device control achieved with the Raptor Controller in graphical Icon based system.

INTEGRATED VISION INSPECTION
  • Inspection system provides 100% inspection of label presence and position on decorated part.
  • Positions measurements are verified for proper setup and operation of the system (avoids costly customer fulfillment errors).
  • Vision setup is completely accessible by the user and may be reconfigured for additional parts and labels.

FLEXIBLE PACKAGING
  • Six-axis articulated robot transfers decorated part through final steps of the process.
  • Acquiring complement of parts, present them for additional inspection devices such as a closed lid verification sensor array.
  • Layer packing the parts directly in a shipping carton.
  • Quality IML parts with consistent throughput now ready for shipment.
